However, during the time, George was in a romantic relationship with his partner Gale Burnick, whom he married in 1975. Later, Martin and Burnick ended their relationship in 1979. Following the divorce from Gale, Parris and George became close and began their romantic affair. In September 1981, Parris moved in to live with him.

After several years of dating, the author George and his longtime girlfriend, Parris, decided to tie the wedding knot. Their small wedding ceremony was held on February 15, 2011, at their Santa Fe home. The details regarding their wedding are lacking as they walk down the aisle privately.

Following six months-long marriage, George and his wife Parris held a larger wedding ceremony. Their wedding reception was held at Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, in Reno, Nevada, on August 19, 2011. Additionally, the duo has not shared any kids.
